Central Florida Earth Day - News - Updates

Central Florida Earth Day 2012 will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at Lake Eola Park. This is the 42nd anniversary of Earth Day!

Earth Day is on! We are braving the weather. Here is the map and a list of vendor locations.

Central Florida Earth Day is a FREE event! Rain or shine! So far hundreds of sponsors, vendors, and contributors have committed to participating in Earth Day, with more signing up every day! Central Florida Earth Day is organized by Vegetarians of Central Florida. Please go to our website for more information about the group and its events.

Look for promotional material about Central Florida Earth Day in Earth Sponsor Orlando Sentinel. The Earth Day Info Guide will be printed in the Orlando Sentinel Going Green section on Friday, April 13.

Solar-Ray will be demonstrating a working photovoltaic system with approximately 3 kilowatts of power. Also on display will be a grid-tie inverter, utility grade meter and back-up stand alone photovoltaic system. Solar-Ray's system will be hooked into the park's grid to create power for the event!

Thanks to Anna McCambridge-Thomas for the terrific Earth Day artwork. It will be on t-shirts available at the event.

Make Earth Day every day. Earth Day is an international movement to highlight important environmental issues. These issues should be part of our awareness and action every day--not just on Earth Day. Here are some other local activities you can participate in to contribute to our local community and help protect the planet and its inhabitants:

Disneynature's CHIMPANZEE advance screening. Monday, April 16 at 7:00 p.m., Regal Winter Park Village 20.

Join Vegetarians of Central Florida at a free, exclusive showing of the film in partnership with Disneynature and Central Florida Earth Day sponsor the Orlando Sentinel. Don't miss this incredible movie at absolutely no cost! You may bring guests and do not need a pass if you RSVP on Meetup or Facebook (although passes will be distributed to other people).
